What is Drone Racing?

Drone racing is a modern aerial race sport that combines remote piloting, FPV goggles and physical race environments. Blending the familiarity of esports-style controls with live, real-world competition, pilots race through purpose-built circuits in a fast, accessible format designed for spectators, partners and brand engagement.

  • The Goggles

Pilots race wearing HD FPV (first Person View) goggles that stream low-latency video directly from the drone, placing them inside the race and responding in real time.

  • The Controller

Each pilot uses a handheld radio controller featuring two precision gimbals—one governing throttle and rotation, the other controlling the drone's pitch and roll.

  • The Drone

The racing drones are quadcopters built for speed and agility, typically featuring a carbon fibre frame, and a camera that streams live footage to the pilot's goggles.

  • The Pilots

Racing drone pilots train to navigate complex courses at high speed using only the live video feed from their aircraft. This is an acquired skill set.

    The Race Track

Racing takes place on a three-dimensional course of illuminated gates, pylons, and obstacles. LED strips on each drone trace vivid light trails through the air, revealing the split-second flight paths as pilots weave through the track at speeds exceeding 160 km/h.

THE TIMING IS JUST RIGHT

Key growth drivers include cutting-edge advancements in drone technology, increased availability of live events, and drone racing’s rise as a thrilling and fast-paced spectator sport.

The drone industry in Australia is growing quickly, with forecasts suggesting activity could reach around 60 million drone flights a year by 2043. The local drone market is already worth hundreds of millions of dollars annually and is expected to more than double over the next decade as drones become part of everyday life in entertainment, sport and events. Your brand comes in while this market is taking off, aligning with a new, high‑growth industry just as Australian families and young fans are discovering drone racing as the next big thing

As Australia enters this space, the timing is RIGHT!
